BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Colleen Josephson is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at UC Santa Cruz, and an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on AgriFood Electronics. She is also a faculty affiliate at the UC Santa Cruz Center for Agroecology. Her research interests include wireless sensing and communications systems, with a focus on technology that furthers sustainable practices. Her work includes designing novel sensing paradigms for agriculture, inventing techniques for ultra-low power communication in indoor sensor networks, and exploiting non-traditional energy sources, such as microbes, for sustainable sensing. Colleen received her PhD from Stanford University, and her MEng and SB degrees from MIT. In 2022, she was recognized as aFFAR New Innovator in Food and Agriculture and as a Rising Star in Computer Networking and Communications.
